Aside from his very experienced, yet opened-ear for music, he stops at nothing to be sure he gives his best.
I have two 14B’s. I use one for tracking, and the other lives on my outboard insert collection of tools. Although it’s a vari-mu style compressor, I’ve found the attack to be pretty fast if I’m using it up front to catch a few peaks with vocals, or to slightly tame other dynamic incoming sources. It handles those cases very well, and still leaves room for you to do any post-processing if you desire. Then too, I’ve used it to slam driving basses, and rock guitars in a mix, and they sit AWESOMELY tight without sounding “over-pumped.”
